I have a distinct lack of words at the moment. I can usually slot a few minutes to write in no matter how busy I am, but that is just not the case at the moment. The weeks are just full to the brim of jobs, lists, life admin, new schools, full time work etc etc.
However, I have had this song knocking about in my head for weeks, and when that’s the case I usually try and learn it just get it out of my head and into the open. I find often there’s a reason it’s lodged in there, but I don’t know what the reason is in this case. A Rolling Stone interview with Gillian Welch (the song’s author) tells me that it was written in response to the anxiety that recording artists felt as peer-to-peer file sharing services threatened their livelihoods. Interesting.
So- here’s my roughly covered, badly angles, terrible camera version of “Everything is Free” by way of Gillian Welch/Father John Misty/Phoebe Bridgers on my Yamaha Reface. Basically I just put tremolo/delay on everything to hide the fact that I can’t play very well.
What song is knocking about in your head at the moment?

I’m always up for trying to cover a song, should you have any particular requests, please do send them over. I find it a useful way to crawl out of a creative block, especially when it’s a song someone else has requested that i may not have listened to before.
