One for Fathers Day
Day 7 of 18 days of small creative acts
What I wrote
How
I think it being Fathers Day tomorrow means this stuff is on my mind, despite the fact that we never really did anything for it. It’s the second Fathers Day without Dad, and it’s interesting to see what feels different this year to last.
I’ve been up since 5am (not on purpose) so spent some time writing in my journal whilst the house was quiet. I was thinking about how things feel like they are changing for me at the moment, and how strange it is that there comes a point where your story isn’t overseen or observed by your parents/grandparents.
I used another of prompts from this book (on the theme of ‘First times’) and the poem is what came out of that.
I will redraft it another day to tidy it up a little.
I genuinely had no idea what I wanted to write about this morning when I woke up. This served as a useful reminder to myself that sometimes it’s just good to make the time and trust the process.
I hope your weekends are filled with some good food and time to rest, and if you do something for Fathers Day, I hope you enjoy it!
Much love
Em x
